Thailand's First Carbon Credit Token Raises $14.7M, Lists on Bitkub
A Thai company has brought Southeast Asia's first carbon credit-backed digital investment token to secondary market listing under a regulated capital market framework, completing a THB 480 million (approximately $14.7 million USD) offering before trading opened on the country's largest crypto exchange on July 20. Siam TC Technology (STCT), a subsidiary of Bangkok-listed Ditto (Thailand) PCL, issued 400 million Blu Green Tokens (BLU) at THB 1.20 each through Token X, a Securities and Exchange Commission-licensed ICO portal and a subsidiary of banking group SCBX. The offering ran from July 3 to 13 and sold out entirely.

BLU began trading on Bitkub Digital Asset Exchange on July 20.
Each token represents a fractional claim on carbon credits generated by 17,531.04 rai (roughly 28 square kilometers) of mangrove forest spread across 15 Thai provinces. The blockchain infrastructure underlying BLU had not been publicly specified in offering documents available at the time of publication.
The forests are registered under the Thailand Greenhouse Gas Management Organization's T-VER and Premium T-VER standards, the country's official voluntary carbon credit registry. Mangrove ecosystems sequester carbon at rates four to ten times higher than tropical rainforests, according to project documentation, making them among the more valuable assets in voluntary carbon markets. The Premium T-VER standard received approval from the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) in November 2025 under its CORSIA framework, meaning the credits underlying BLU are eligible for international airline carbon offsetting programs.
The token carries a projected base-case internal rate of return of 10.35 percent annually over a seven-year project term, with an option to extend by two years. DITTO has backed a minimum guaranteed return of 3.0 percent per year in the event carbon credit revenues fall short. The precise mechanism behind this guarantee, whether through corporate indemnity, escrow, or another structure, had not been publicly disclosed at the time of publication.
Retail investors were capped at THB 300,000 per person, with a minimum purchase of 1,000 tokens (THB 1,200). Institutional investors faced no upper limit. Six Thai securities firms distributed the offering, including InnovestX, a unit of Siam Commercial Bank, Thailand's third-largest bank.
Ditto CEO Takorn Rattanakamolporn said demand came from institutional buyers, retail participants, and corporate buyers in the food supply chain seeking sustainability exposure. "The successful fundraising demonstrates growing investor confidence in digital assets linked to real environmental projects while offering an alternative investment channel that combines financial returns with sustainability objectives," he said in a statement reported by the Bangkok Post.
The deal is notable for its regulatory scaffolding as much as its financial size. Thailand's SEC amended its digital asset decree specifically to permit tokenized environmental commodities, including carbon credits and renewable energy certificates, to be offered and traded on licensed platforms. Token X, which previously facilitated Thailand's first cross-border tokenization project in September 2025, handled due diligence, carbon credit verification, and offer structuring.
Bitkub, the exchange where BLU now trades, is licensed by Thailand's Ministry of Finance and processes roughly $66 million in daily volume. The exchange is currently exploring a $200 million IPO in Hong Kong.
Token X's chief investment officer, Vanrob Boontham, said the collaboration "enables investors to participate in carbon credit investment and environmental conservation projects following international standards."
One gap in the public record worth noting: no breakdown of how the THB 480 million in proceeds will be allocated between forest management operations and administrative costs has been published, and quantitative projections for annual carbon credit generation were not made available. The mechanism by which BLU holders receive the projected returns, whether through distribution of carbon credit sale proceeds, periodic cash payments, or another redemption process, had also not been publicly detailed at the time of publication.
For the broader Southeast Asian region, BLU establishes a working template: a government-registered carbon registry provides the credibility anchor, an SEC-licensed ICO portal handles compliance and disclosure, and a licensed exchange provides the secondary market liquidity that has historically stalled adoption of investment tokens in Thailand. That structure has direct relevance for markets across South Asia and Africa, where large-scale forest and wetland carbon projects exist but lack access to regulated capital markets.
Key design features, including the bank-affiliated ICO portal, the CORSIA-eligible registry standard, and the minimum return guarantee, are designed to address the friction points that typically limit retail participation in carbon credit products in emerging markets.
Tokenized carbon credit infrastructure on permissionless networks, such as Carbonmark's integration of T-VER forestry credits as tradeable on-chain assets, offers a parallel path for developers building outside licensed frameworks.
Ditto began developing the underlying forest carbon project three years ago. With BLU now live on secondary markets, attention turns to how the token trades relative to its THB 1.20 issuance price and whether Thailand's SEC moves to license additional environmental commodity tokens under the same regulatory framework. Bangkok is positioning itself as a regional hub for green real-world asset tokenization at a moment when Singapore's more institution-focused model dominates the regional conversation, and BLU gives it a concrete live case to point to.
