EigenCloud attended Vibecon India in Bengaluru on April 16 and 17 as a hero partner, putting its verifiable AI agent infrastructure in front of 300 builders selected from more than 20,000 applicants. The two-day hackathon, organized by Emergent, a Y Combinator-tied accelerator, marked the first time YC ran in-person startup events in India in two decades. EigenCloud founder Sreeram delivered the opening keynote, and company representative Ajit served on the final judging panel.

The event's format centered on rapid prototyping rather than polished pitching. Builders competed for a grand prize of a direct YC interview, bypassing the standard application process, alongside a $10,000 cash pool, with $5,000 awarded to the winner. Two projects built within EigenCloud's designated pod advanced to the event finals. Four builders subsequently reached out to request Eigen ecosystem access. One deployed independently on EigenCloud with no outreach from the team.

Builder surveys conducted at the event surfaced a phrase that circulated repeatedly: "Build with, not sell to." Participants described wanting to use infrastructure platforms as collaborators rather than vendors. One anonymous builder put it more bluntly: "We are not building an app to sell. We are building a sovereign agent company." The projects spanned healthcare, legal, edtech, fintech, the creator economy, and commerce, suggesting that demand for verifiable agent infrastructure extends well beyond developer tooling or crypto-native applications.

What EigenCloud Actually Offers

EigenCloud sits on top of EigenLayer, Ethereum's restaking protocol, which currently holds roughly $18 billion in restaked ETH across more than 1,900 operators. Restaking allows users who have already staked ETH to extend that same economic security to additional services, a category EigenLayer calls Actively Validated Services (AVSs). EigenCloud packages this infrastructure into a deployable environment for AI agents.

The stack has three main components. EigenCompute uses Trusted Execution Environments (TEEs), isolated hardware enclaves that allow outside parties to verify that a piece of code ran exactly as deployed. EigenDA provides a distributed data availability layer, producing tamper-proof logs of agent inputs and outputs. EigenLayer's slashing mechanisms add economic accountability by penalizing operators who misbehave. Together, the three layers are designed to make agent behavior auditable by counterparties who have no reason to simply trust the operator's word.

On March 26, 2026, EigenCloud released a beta version of AgentKit, a developer toolkit for building what the company calls "sovereign agents." These are software entities that can hold crypto wallets, execute USDC payments autonomously, manage on-chain treasuries, maintain social media accounts on platforms including Twitter and Substack, and pay for their own compute costs. AgentKit also includes CLI tooling, structured templates for agent behavior and governance, and an inference gateway that lets developers select AI providers while automating payments. The company's own live example is Sovra, an autonomous AI cartoonist that browses news, produces original content, and generates revenue on X.

Why Bengaluru, Why Now

India has ranked first globally in blockchain adoption for three consecutive years, according to Chainalysis data cited in the Hashed Emergent India Web3 Landscape Report. Indian developers now account for 15.2 percent of global Web3 developers, up from 12 percent in 2024. India is the only major hub on a consistent upward trajectory as activity in the United States declines. The country's on-chain value reached $338 billion last year, doubling year over year, with trading volume up 114 percent.

Among Indian builders, 33.2 percent identified AI and Web3 convergence as a leading area of interest, second only to DeFi at 36.6 percent. That segment is the fastest-growing and, by editorial assessment, among the least served by existing infrastructure. EigenCloud's verifiable compute stack addresses a problem those builders are increasingly encountering: how to build AI agents that users and counterparties can actually trust. The problem is especially acute in healthcare, legal, and fintech contexts, all of which appeared explicitly in the Vibecon survey results and all of which represent significant, developing markets in India.

India's regulatory environment adds texture to the picture. A 30 percent flat tax on crypto income and a 1 percent TDS on transactions remain live barriers for retail adoption, though conditions are improving for infrastructure builders. Beyond Bengaluru, a sixfold surge in derivatives traders from Eastern India points to a geographic base that events like Vibecon have not yet fully reached. Web3 trading participation among women rose 20 percent, growing at double the rate of men, reflecting a broadening of the Indian builder demographic.

YC framed its own rationale in similarly direct terms: "AI is dropping the cost of building to near zero. The talent-dense ecosystem of Bengaluru is now a critical focal point for the next generation of global companies," according to YC's public statements around the event.

What Comes Next

The timing of Vibecon carries practical weight beyond symbolism. The YC Summer 2026 application deadline falls on May 4, sixteen days after the event concluded. Builders who prototyped sovereign agent projects in Bengaluru now have a direct window to take those projects into one of the world's most consequential startup funding pipelines, with EigenCloud infrastructure as one possible foundation.

The broader market gives the experiment context. According to data from Kerberus and BlockEden.xyz, the AI agent token market carries a combined market cap above $7.7 billion, with daily trading volume near $1.7 billion. More than 129,000 on-chain agents are registered to manage complex DeFi transactions. EigenLayer holds 93.9 percent of the restaking market, and its nearest competitor, Symbiotic, sits at $897 million TVL. For EigenCloud, Vibecon was a calibration test of whether the sovereign agent concept travels beyond Western crypto circles. The builder who deployed without any prompting from the team suggests it does.
