Decentralized advertising exchange Alkimi is running its entire operation on the Sui blockchain, processing more than 25 million ad impressions per day as of early 2026. The platform completed its migration to Sui's full technology stack in March 2025 and counts AWS, TikTok, electric vehicle brand Polestar, and UK retailer Currys among its advertiser partners.

The Problem Alkimi Is Targeting

Programmatic advertising, the automated system through which most digital ads are bought and sold, has a documented and growing waste problem. The Association of National Advertisers found $26.8 billion in wasted global ad spend during Q2 2025 alone, a figure 34% higher than the organization's 2023 baseline. Nearly half the advertisers in the ANA study, which covered 39 advertisers in total, could not access the raw data needed to verify where their money went. Global ad fraud is estimated to have cost the industry $41.4 billion in 2025, according to ad fraud monitoring firm SpiderAF.

The fee structure compounds the problem. Legacy intermediaries, including demand-side platforms, supply-side platforms, data brokers, and verification layers, collectively extract 30 to 50 percent or more of ad spend before it reaches publishers. Alkimi charges 3 to 8 percent.

How the Sui Stack Is Used

Alkimi does not simply settle transactions on a blockchain after the fact. The platform runs its auction process, impression delivery, verification, and payment settlement entirely onchain, using four components of Sui's integrated technology suite.

Walrus, Sui's decentralized storage layer (launched on mainnet in March 2025), holds tamper-evident records of ad impressions. Seal, a programmable access control system, encrypts sensitive advertiser and publisher data while keeping outcomes verifiable. Nautilus provides trusted execution environments, which are secure computing containers that validate impressions and reconcile billing off the main chain but anchor cryptographic proof to it. zkLogin, a Sui feature that eliminates the need for traditional crypto wallet setup, allows non-crypto-native advertisers and publishers to participate without friction.

Sui's theoretical throughput of 130,000 transactions per second makes real-time bidding at scale technically feasible. Alkimi's current volume of 25 million-plus daily impressions averages roughly 289 impressions per second, a figure well within the network's demonstrated operational capacity. Sui's DeFi total value locked reached $2.11 billion in Q3 2025, according to Messari. Across DeFi, NFT, and social applications combined, NFTEvening has estimated the network's total value at $5.85 billion; the two figures measure different scopes and come from different sources and should not be read as a single metric tracked over time.

What the Campaign Results Show

Sui and Alkimi have released performance data from two enterprise campaigns. A Polestar campaign recorded a 99% viewability rate, a 96% video completion rate, a 34% lift in consumer sales intent, and a 24% lift in brand association, according to Nielsen-verified figures cited in Sui and Alkimi communications. An AWS video campaign reduced cost-per-thousand-impressions by 68% while improving video completion rates by 19%. These figures come from official Sui and Alkimi sources and have not been independently audited by Verse Press.

Sui Foundation Managing Director Christian Thompson said: "Sui and its stack ensure the experience for Alkimi and their partners is fast, secure, transparent, and able to function completely onchain." Alkimi CEO Ben Putley framed the goal as giving "advertisers, publishers and users a fundamentally better experience," rather than replicating legacy systems in a new technical format.

Regional Stakes in Emerging Markets

The stakes extend well beyond North American and European ad markets. India's programmatic advertising sector is expanding at a 24.6% compound annual growth rate through 2031, driven by mobile-first internet adoption. Independent publishers in South Asia, particularly those serving regional-language audiences, typically receive a small fraction of advertiser spend after intermediary fees are extracted, according to industry analysts. A compression to the 3 to 8 percent range Alkimi claims would represent a structurally meaningful margin shift for those players if adopted broadly.

Africa presents a similar case at an earlier stage. The continent's programmatic ad market sits at roughly $20 billion in 2025 and is projected to grow at a 9.12% CAGR, with programmatic channels forecast to account for 80% of total African ad revenue by 2029. Payment delays of 30 to 90 days are standard in legacy systems, directly constraining publisher cash flow. Smart contract settlement could, in principle, compress those delays significantly, though Alkimi has not published specific settlement latency figures for its platform in practice. Mysten Labs, the company that built the Sui protocol, has invested in regional developer capacity through SuiHub Lagos (launched mid-2025) and a $1.3 million partnership with Semicolon Africa to train developers on Sui's Move programming language. As of early March 2026, neither Alkimi nor Sui has announced confirmed pilots or rollouts in either region.

Token Metrics and Forward Context

Alkimi's native token recently rebranded from $ADS to $ALKIMI. As of March 2, 2026, it trades at approximately $0.0098 with a circulating supply of 300 million tokens and a market capitalization of roughly $2.9 million, ranked around 2,030th on CoinGecko. Token price data is volatile; readers should verify these figures independently before acting on them.

That market capitalization sits in notable contrast to the platform's claimed advertiser partner list and daily impression volume. Market observers note that token valuations and platform-level adoption frequently diverge, particularly at early stages of commercial deployment. With the global digital advertising market estimated at $750 billion annually and projected to cross $1 trillion by 2027, Alkimi's infrastructure traction positions it against a large opportunity. Whether the company can convert that traction into broader industry adoption, particularly in high-growth markets across South Asia and Africa, remains the central commercial question. The distance between Alkimi's current token market capitalization and the scale of the market it is targeting illustrates how early the company remains in that trajectory.
